Capt. Rennie Clark's Fishing Report

Well Drew and I did not win the redfish tour tourney last weekend but we did make a good showing. We finished in 15th place weighing in 2 fish. The weather was tough before the tourney but we managed to get the inshore slam almost every day. We also caught whiting and grouper to throw in the mix. Tourney day was beautiful and we caught fish pretty much all day. At low tide the reds were chewing on mullett and shrimp like you would not believe. We were maneuvering the boat in super skinny water about 10-12 inches deep in an area that was not much wider than the boat. The fish were a little spooky but we beat them up pretty good in a deeper hole in the back of the area we were fishing. I would estimate we caught 4 dozen fish some too large but the majority being rats on the 15-17 inch range.
Can't wait to get up to the Neuse this week to fish the Neuse River BW open. Will DF Bunting and I finished in sixth place last year and look to improve on that number! this year.
